Technology’s Moral Valence

I hear this statement a lot, “Technology itself is neither good nor bad.”

Perhaps not.

On the other hand, “Technology” can be summarized as “tools that make more things possible or difficult things easier.”

If that is true, are there technologies that make certain classes of bad things so easy to do that the mere existence of the technology is an existential threat?

This seems obviously true.

For example, would you give a toddler a fragmentation grenade? “All good so long as she doesn’t pull out the pin?”

What current or near-term prospective technologies fit this criteria?

What might be the best way to put the pin back in and dispose of the grenade?
